Mauritian Dictionary

This page is going to serve as a dictionary (kinda) of words I’ve learned here. I suck at remembering so at least I can pull up this page in the middle of a convo if I’m lost. Mauritian Creole is mixed with french, so there will be some french words in this mix as well because everyone here is pretty much trilingual (french, english, and creole)

Mari bon – Creole – very good (mari = very – you can say before anything really) (bon = good)

Gros mo – Swear words

Ki ki gogot – @sshole/<unt

pilon – like ur gay (actually derogatory though)

bouss to fess – lick my @ass

liki to mama – go lick ur mom (yike)

langet to mama – lick ur mom (same different fonts)

falour mama – kinda like mofo

gopia – idiot

Direksyon – Directions

Gos – Left

Drwat – Right

Al drwat – Go straight

Sime – street/road

Oto laser – At the light

Tour a – Turn at

Mwa dan lane – Months of the Year

Zanvie – January

Fevriye – February

Mars – March

Avril – April

Me – May

Zin – June

Ziyet – July

Out – August

Septam – September

Oktob – October

Novam – November

Desam – December

Mwa – Month

Lane – Year

Days of the Week

Lindi – Monday

Mardi – Tuesday
